I’m Sorry, Britney Spears, But…

Filed under: Humor, Personal Thoughts — Cork McGraw @ 9:28 am

Today, December 1st, is World AIDS Day.

Part of me had expected to wake up today and see this fact posted all throughout the blogsphere … I expected to see major stories on the morning news … but, no. What do I wake up to?

Well, I woke up to Britney Spears Crotch. Why? Who knows? Maybe she wants to make a statement that it’s ok for women to go free-balling while wearing skimpy miniskirts? Was she just too waisted to realize the cold air blowing up her coochie was trying to tell her something. Or was Britney Spears’ shaved privates a political statement? (Look, World! No More Bush) Did Sex-Tape-Scandal-Queen Paris Hilton ask her to do it? Is this a publicity stunt - Britney Spears stars in new Leave It To Beaver movie to be announced tomorrow?

It’s sad … on so many levels. I don’t know where to start.

Maybe I’m not like you - but I really don’t want to see the Britney Spears Beaver Shots! At least, not today.

  1. Ah, but….

so many people (men?) apparently do want to see those shots. Which is why there were banks of photographers there - on their knees - waiting for them….taking them.

I’m more interested in the question ‘why don’t men have to do all that rubbish to get themselves noticed?’

Wassat? One knob looks much like another and anyway it’s personal? Oh. Sorry. I didn’t realise double standards still pertained :D

  2. Come on, double standards are all the rage right now. Janet flashes a boob and people get upset. Britney Spears shows her shaved parts and people just sit there drooling for more.

And yes, men are just as guilty … just, not as often. Colin Ferrell and Jude Law this year made such a big stink over threatening to sue anyone who published their nude paparazzi photos - if they hadn’t, nobody would have known they were there in the first place.

Unfortunately - we do live in an area where female nudity is much less taboo than male nudity. The movies (ok, the R-rated ones) are filled with naked females running around - but male nudity seems to be reserved for softcore movies. Except for the occasional brief butt shot.

  3. Ah, yes. Men are so special, aren’t they?

  4. I don’t consider men special… In a way - it’s more like we men are more repressed… I think there’s a certain sense of freedom that women get that men just don’t. Women are just more free to express themselves then men are. And if that expression involves exposing yourself - then more power to ya. (Look what it did for Sharon Stone or Madonna!)

A woman is free to be totally naked amongst her women friends. Men aren’t. Women are free to sit and chatter in the washroom - men have to hurry up and finish their business and get the heck out without saying anything to anyone because if we did, the earth would stop spinning. A woman can watch a movie where a female runs around topless or naked - but if a man was caught watching a movie with male nudity, everyone would think he was gay.

Like the new James Bond flick. James, who has always run around wearing business suits and tuxedos while the Bond Girls wear outfits so big you can fit them into a plastic sandwich bag. But the new film is different - why? Because we get to see James Bond swimming … in a (GASP!!!) Speedo!
